Thank you to everyone who donated to pfblogs.org during the Annual Campaign throughout April. By adding a few donations at the end of March and a few at the beginning of May, we doubled the goal of $200 I set at the beginning of the campaign! What a great achievement, and what a great community.

The website, which consists of several pages of PHP code for display, more PHP code for getching feeds, and a MySQL database for storing and retrieving entries is stored on a shared server with Dreamhost. Sometimes Dreamhost’s servers automatically and arbitrarily terminate (kill) processes running on their machines, so sometimes not all feeds are fetched each time. I’m working with the host to resolve this, but I’ve already made many enhancements to the code in the past few days so that this problem is less common.

Some additional bugs have been fixed in the past few days, including an important one that resulted in excerpts being fetched (if available) rather than full entries. Of course, your full entry won’t be displayed here, but some bloggers use very short excerpts in addition to full entries in their feeds. If the excerpt was shorter than 5 words, it was not displayed, even if the full entry was indeed much longer. In all cases, the fetching software now concentrates on the “fullest” text contained within the RSS feed.

Be careful. If you use FeedBurner, check your settings. They may truncate your full feed.
